dc.description.abstractObjective: This study intends to develop skills in the area of Rehabilitation Nursing with people with respiratory disorders and self-care deficit. Methods: Descriptive study whose participants are hospitalized in the medical service B in the HLA (Litoral Alentejano Hospital), with alterations in the respiratory functions and self-care, targets of rehabilitative nursing care,with recovery potential. Results: The implementation of a functional respiratory re-education program, demonstrated gains in self-care and functionality. Conclusion: Interventions were performed with different people with different respiratory diseases and with different ages. Due to their pathological condition, the ability to perform self-care independently was diminished. Based on identified needs, specialized and individualized intervention plans were designed to develop specific competencies in rehabilitation nursing.por
