A problemática dos emigrantes brasileiros que trabalham em Portugal: o caso particular da cidade de Fátima

Abstract

O objetivo desta tese tem como objetivo conhecer a situação dos imigrantes brasileiros que trabalham em Fátima - Portugal, a partir da informação obtida para o efeito. Metodologicamente, e a partir dos objetivos traçados, o autor procedeu à aplicação das seguintes técnicas para recolha: pesquisa documental, observação participante, inquérito por questionário junto ao público - alvo em Fátima, e de amostras de imigrantes portugueses em Fortaleza e de brasileiros em Teresina no Brasil. A leitura dos dados recolhidos articula-se com as análises de John A. Jackson, sobre a imigração e Pierre Bourdieu, a respeito dos capitais sociais, observando-se que a investigação, ” (...) jamais está terminada, seja que circunstância for.” (HIERNAUX, 1997, P.180), dai a indicação que devem ser complementadas mais tarde com outras investigações. Conclui-se destacando dois aspetos que caracterizam os ¡migrantes trabalhadores brasileiros em Fátima - Portugal, consistindo o primeiro na ilusão à partida de uma ascensão económica na sociedade de acolhimento e o segundo em situações de discriminação económica, cultural e negação do direito de exercer cidadania, tomando-se afinal assim alguns ¡migrantes excluídos na sociedade de destino. /ABSTRACT - The aim of this thesis is to gauge of discrimination experienced by Brazilian immigrants working in the, examining the specific case of those working in Fátima-Portugal, using the results of research carried out as part of this study. As regards methodology, survey as follow objectives the following data collection methods, documentary research, direct participatory observation, interviews involving members of the target population in the city of Fátima-Portugal, of city Fortaleza and Teresina-Brazil. The bibliography consulted covered John A. Jackson`s analysis of immigration and Pierre Bourdieu`s study of social capital, while it should be in mind, to quote HlERNAUX (1997, P180), that a survey can “never be completed, whatever the circumstances”. lt is stated that the results should be added to by means of the carrying out of further studies. Two aspects regarding Brazilian immigrant workers in Fátima are highlighted: firstly, the mirage of economic ascendancy in the host society, and secondly, economic and cultural discrimination and the denial of the right to full citizenship, whereby immigrants are excluded from society.
