Abstract

About Ian Clark’s thought. Abstract: The present dissertation intends to offer an integrated perspective about the main theoretical formulations of the English School of International Relations, as well as the origin and formation of the main precursor theoretical concepts, which crossed the whole course of the English School and are still valid today. It is within this theoretical framework that we seek to analyze political legitimacy in the international order under the thesis produced by Ian Clark, framed within this theoretical framework, on international relations and the conduct of its main actors, the States. Ian Clark transversally approaches all theoretical formulations in order to introduce into the debate the concept of legitimacy which, until then, had remained far from scientific proposals and the academic discussion in general. Legitimacy as a central element of the international order is, therefore, the theme that brings us here to analyze and seek answers from the author's theses, in particular, in the trilogy that Clark dedicates to the subject, seeks to validate and confer the due theoretical framework.
