Abstract
While citizens acquire legally their state free of civil and political rights, citizenship objectively reflects the quality of citizens, a way of being in society, having as a reference the social values in which it is integrated and participates. Citizenship requires a proactive involvement of citizens in their country, in the multifaceted aspects of social dynamics and transformations. The Portuguese Republic is a country that has defined the development of the personality and the spirit of tolerance, mutual understanding and solidarity (art. 73.º/2 of Constitution of the Portuguese Republic). Everyone has the right to health protection and the duty to defend it, a right that is also ensured by the development of people’s health education (art. 64.º of CPR). Now, for these rights, education for the prevention of risk and the promotion of aid seems essential. Having analyzed these premises, we report the curricular innovation of introducing basic life support training in basic education for the first time. Despite its relevance, its insufficiency is announced. The school is a unique training opportunity, so first aid should be a longitudinal training throughout the school journey. But let’s not stop there. Another structuring opportunity is obtaining a vehicle driving license. We will take care of all this.
