No olhar dos outros: o papel da alteridade nos processos de construção da identidade narrativa em obras de Maria Judite de Carvalho

Abstract

Reforçando a investigação que se debruça sobre a obra de Maria Judite de Carvalho, este estudo procurou compreender como se desenrola a construção da identidade narrativa das suas personagens e quais os contornos da influência da alteridade nesse processo. Analisaram-se algumas das narrativas e personagens de toda a produção ficcional da autora, compondo assim uma amostra representativa dos seus mundos narrativos. Para este estudo foram considerados diferentes contributos teóricos acerca dos estudos narrativos e acerca da identidade, sendo fundamental a premissa Soi-même comme un autre, de Paul Ricoeur, ou mais precisamente, a noção de que a identidade não pode ser concebida sem o reconhecimento por parte de outrem, da dialética que existe para lá do indivíduo e que narrativamente o constitui. Concluímos existirem as personagens juditianas numa paradoxal dependência social que efetivamente estrutura a sua identidade narrativa; In the eyes of others: The role of otherness in the process of construction of narrative identity in fiction of Maria Judite de Carvalho Abstract: Reinforcing the research that focuses on the work of Maria Judite de Carvalho, this study sought to understand how the construction of the narrative identity of her characters unfolds and what are the features of the influence of otherness in this process. Some of the narratives and characters from the author's entire fictional production were analysed, thus composing a representative sample of her narrative worlds. For this study we considered different theoretical contributions about narrative studies and about identity, being fundamental the premise Soi-même comme un autre, by Paul Ricoeur, or more precisely, the notion that identity cannot be conceived without the recognition by the other, of the dialectic that exists beyond the individual and that narratively forms him. We conclude that the juditian characters exist in a paradoxal social dependence that effectively structures their narrative identity.
