Da prática de química à química prática: desenvolvimento da prática de química no ensino português (1852-1889)

Abstract

Sendo a prática, “ato ou efeito de praticar”, “aplicação”, “execução”, entendeu-se por prática de Química, o ato de praticar, aplicar ou executar a Química. Em Portugal, surgiram sinais de que em várias instituições de ensino científico se procurou acompanhar o modelo de ensino orientado para o laboratório que teve Liebig como primeiro criador, quando em 1872, o químico António Augusto de Aguiar (1838 - 1887), fundou, no Instituto Industrial e Comercial de Lisboa, o ensino da Química Prática, ato que denunciou como sem antecedentes no país. Este estudo pretende clarificar o conceito de Química Prática com base no exemplo do Curso instituído por António Augusto de Aguiar e, através desse conceito, compreender e interpretar o desenvolvimento da prática de Química no ensino português de 1852 a 1889; ABSTRACT:

FROM THE PRACTICE OF CHEMISTRY TO PRACTICAL CHEMISTRY: development of the practice of chemistry in the Portuguese curricula (1852 – 1889) Since practice is “the act or effect of practising”, “application”, “execution” it is understood as practice of chemistry, the act of practicing, applicating or executing Chemistry. In Portugal, there were signs that in several scientific educational institutions, they tried to follow the teaching model oriented to the lab which was created by Liebig, when in 1872, the chemist António Augusto de Aguiar (1838 - 1887) funded, in the Industrial and Commercial Institute of Lisbon, the teaching of Practical Chemistry, act which was without precedents in this country. This study, intends to clarify the concept of Practical Chemistry, based on the example of the Course created by António Augusto de Aguiar and through this concept, understand and interpret the development of the Chemistry practice in the Portuguese curricula from 1852 to 1889.
