Turismo desportivo numa cidade portuguesa património mundial pela UNESCO

Abstract

Sports tourism is becoming increasingly important in tourism supply. This study aimed to analyze the demand and supply in terms of sports tourism in Évora municipality. We applied questionnaires in order to know the opinion of tourists regarding sports activities practiced in this destination. It were also carried out two interviews: one to the chief of Évora City Council and another to the Director of a tourist entertainment company. There is a clear lack of strategy in the sector, which is evidenced by the fact that visitors do not present as they primary motivation to practice sport activities in this destination. It was found that in Évora Municipality Sports Tourism can be a major agent of development in several areas.
