O sofá/ De espaços de interacção social ao abandono/armazenamento

Abstract

Esta dissertação teórico-prática tem por tema “O sofá como objecto de interacção social, armazenamento e abandono”. A problemática tratada centra-se no modo como o sofá afecta as interacções pessoais em espaços públicos e privados, na perspectiva de uma «estética relacional» (Nicolas Bourriaud). Reflecte também sobre o modo como o espectador observador se relaciona com o sofá, enquanto objecto disposto num determinado espaço ou situação, e questiona os limites da obra de arte, o que é ou não Arte. Aborda ainda o papel do artista na sociedade actual e procura estabelecer o papel do diálogo numa «arte socialmente comprometida», ao registar situações de objectos deslocados, nas quais sejam expostas as mudanças de percepção operadas, a partir de diferentes abordagens de situações da realidade e de objectos do quotidiano. Finalmente, propõe-se recriar situações, proporcionar ambientes de convivialidade mediada pelo sofá, de modo a registar as interacções resultantes entre os utilizadores de tais espaços; ABSTRACT: This MFA dissertation is considered at the same time practical and theoretical, being the theme: “The sofa as an object of social interaction, storage and abandonment”. It initially focuses on how sofas we sit on influence our personal behaviour in public and private spaces, in the perspective of relational aesthetics (Nicholas Borriau). It also reflects upon the way in which the viewer relates to the couch, which is an object that occupies a certain situation and position in space, also questioning the limits of the artwork, what is art and not art; it then addresses the role of artist in today's society and seeks to establish the importance of dialogue, in a socially committed art; it also records objects in awkward and displaced situations, in which they are exposed to transfiguration, according to different points of view about reality and on everyday objects; finally it also proposes to recreate user friendly situations and environments mediated by the sofa, observing and recording the resulting interactions between the users of such spaces.
