Esterification of fatty acids with methanol over heteropolyacids immobilized on silica

Abstract

Biodiesel is a clean fuel source, which is viewed as a viable alternative for dwindling petroleum-based diesel resources. the catalytic activity decreases in the series: PW-Silica>SiW-Silica>PMo-Silica. It was observed a similar catalytic activity of PW-silica for the different substrates used in esterifications.
