Impacto do investimento na educação em STP sobre o nível do IDE

Abstract

Este trabalho pioneiro tenta perceber de que forma o investimento em Capital Humano (know-how) pode ou não influenciar a atração do Investimento Direto Estrangeiro. Nesta linha de pensamento algumas variáveis são analisadas e modelos de regressão estimados com o intuito de dar resposta aos objetivos do estudo. Inicialmente tenta-se expor os pressupostos das teorias, transpondo as mesmas para o caso específico de S. Tomé e Príncipe com o intuito de compreender a realidade social do país. Posteriormente, a metodologia elucida os procedimentos, técnicas e análise dos modelos usados com o intuito de validar o modelo de regressão. Os principais resultados do estudo levam-nos a concluir que o investimento em capital humano é a variável mais importante para atrair Investimento Directo Estrangeiro para S. Tomé e Príncipe. Em particular, concluiu-se que após dois anos de investimento em capital Humano têm-se os primeiros sinais de atração ou captação de Investimento Direto Estrangeiro no país; Impact of Investment in Education in STP on the level of the IDE Abstract: This pioneering work tries to explain how the investment in Human Capital (know-how) may or may not influence the attraction of Foreign Direct Investment. In this line of thought, some variables are analysed and regression models are estimated with the purpose of answering the objectives of the study. Initially we try to expose the assumptions of theories, transposing them to the specific case of S. Tomé and Príncipe in order to understand the social reality of the country. Subsequently, the methodology elucidates the procedures, techniques and analysis of the models used in order to validate the regression model. The main results of the study lead us to conclude that the investment in human capital is the most important variable to attract Foreign Direct Investment to S. Tomé and Príncipe. In particular, it was concluded that after two years of investment in Human Capital there are the first signs of attraction of Foreign Direct Investment in the country
