External School Evaluation. Preliminary results of one going research project

Abstract

The article intends to contribute to the systematization of knowledge concerning External School Evaluation (ESE) in Portugal through an empirical project approved by the Technology and Science Foundation. The model implemented in the Inspectorate Education follows the guidelines from the European Foundation for Quality Management and is modeled on the “How Good is Our School?” system. The pertinence of the research project is justified by the increasing social valuing of ESE, and by the non-existence of a national study. In this article we present preliminary results of one going research project led by six public Portuguese universities.
