As superpotências em África na era da descolonização: Angola (1950-1975)

Abstract

Esta pesquisa investiga as causas que levaram as superpotências a intervirem em África, particularmente em Angola, durante o período de descolonização que culminou com a independência do país a 11 de Novembro de 1975. Como é sabido, as superpotências saídas da 2ª Guerra Mundial (EUA e URSS) desde muito cedo apoiaram os Movimentos de Libertação Nacional na sua luta pela independência, fornecendo-lhes apoio multiforme. Com vista a compreender as motivações, o grau de envolvimento, bem como as consequências, realizamos esta pesquisa, emprestando assim a nossa modesta contribuição para uma melhor compreensão dos acontecimentos que tiveram lugar nessa altura, e que fazem parte da história recente de Angola. Com este trabalho, esperamos ter encontrado algumas respostas que nos vão ajudar a desmistificar alguns mitos e mal-entendidos à volta da presença das superpotências no conflito angolano na era da descolonização; ABSTRACT: This research investigates the reasons behind the intervention of superpowers in Africa, particularly in Angola during the decolonization period which culminated with the independence of the country on the 11th November 1975. As it’s known, the superpowers that arose from World War II (USA and USSR) supported from the beginning the National Liberation Movements in their struggle for independence, providing them with multiform support. In order to understand the motivations, level of involvement and the consequences, we have conducted this research, thus contributing towards a better understanding of the events occurred at that time which are part of the recent history of Angola. With this work, we hope that we’ve found some answers that will help us to demystify some myths and misunderstandings related to the presence of superpowers in the Angolan conflict during the decolonization period.
