Abstract

Este trabalho foi elaborado após a conclusão de 500 horas de Estágio Curricular no Hospital Veterinário da Bicuda e apresenta três componentes: Relatório de Estágio, Monografia e Relato de Caso. O Relatório de estágio descreve o local de estágio, regista as atividades realizadas pela estagiária no âmbito do estágio curricular e descreve a casuística acompanhada. A monografia consiste numa revisão de literatura sobre fraturas pélvicas traumáticas em cães e de seguida é apresentado o relato de um caso de fraturas pélvicas traumáticas num cão. Apesar das medidas de segurança rodoviária, ainda encontramos grande incidência dos casos de atropelamentos. Estes traumas são os principais responsáveis pela ocorrência de fraturas pélvicas em cães e gatos. A resolução cirúrgica de lesões pélvicas é indicada quando as fraturas afetem as funções locomotora, reprodutora, ou funções fisiológicas, como por exemplo a micção e excreção de fezes, a longo prazo; SMALL ANIMAL PRACTICE AND SURGERY ABSTRACT: This work followed the conclusion of 500 hours of Curricular Internship at Hospital Veterinário da Bicuda and includes three components: Internship Report, Monography and Case Report. The internship report aims to describe the internship location, register of the activities conducted by the student in the scope of the curricular internship and the description of the cases accompanied. The monography consists of a literature review on traumatic pelvic fractures in dogs and cats, followed by the case report focuses on a case of traumatic pelvic fracture in a dog assisted at the hospital. Despite the road safety measures, we still find a high incidence of run overs. These traumas are responsible for the occurrence of pelvic fractures in dogs and cats. Surgical resolution of pelvic injuries is the right option whenever these fractures will affect the animal's locomotor or reproductive functions in the long term.
