O tempo geológico na formação de professores de geociências

Abstract

Geological time is a complex concept that requires a particular approach on educational context of geosciences as well as on teacher education. The in service training course - Geological time: from students’ ideas to the presentation and discussion of new curriculum materials for Geology teaching, intended to give useful suggestions to basic and secondary school teachers. Those suggestions came from a research project about geological time (carried out at the Research Centre for Didactics and Technology on Teacher Education of the Portuguese University of Aveiro) starting with the diagnosis of students’ ideas (12-13 years old). In the following, curriculum materials have been designed, implemented and evaluated. The authors intended to improve teacher education on the conceptualization, organization and monitoring of the teaching and learning process about the concept under research.
