Técnicas tradicionais de construção, em Vidigueira: a taipa e as coberturas tradicionais

Abstract

As técnicas tradicionais de construção, em especial as aplicadas à taipa e às coberturas tradicionais em Vidigueira, podem ser consideradas como um exemplo das características culturais desta comunidade. Os edifícios que estes habitantes construíram, decoraram e ocupam reflectem o seu espírito e tradições, pelo que devem ser alvo de estudo e preservados através da sua divulgação. Este trabalho pretende contribuir para o conhecimento sobre esta comunidade, nas vertentes histórica, social e cultural, mas também pelo reconhecimento de parte do seu património imaterial (as técnicas de construção) e material (edifícios que delas resultam e ocupação do território). A preservação e divulgação destes conhecimentos, assim como contribuir para o debate sobre as temáticas do património vernacular, é o seu objectivo final. Pretendeu­ se ainda estabelecer uma metodologia de abordagem que conjugasse as áreas das ciências históricas e da arquitectura aplicada ao urbanismo e às construções em terra. - ABSTRACT: The traditional building techniques, specially the one's applied to rammed earth and the traditional roofing in Vidigueira, can be considered as examples of the cultural characteristic's of this community. These buildings, constructed, decorated and dwelled in by these inhabitant's, should be persevered by their study and divulgation because they reflect their state of mind and traditions. One of the objectives of this paper is to contribute to the knowledge about this community, in what concern's to is history, to its society and to its culture, but also for the recognition of its intangible cultural heritage (meaning the traditional building techniques) and their material cultural heritage (the dwellings that this technique's help to build and the town spread out). The preservation and divulgation of this knowledge, so as contributing to the debate about the vernacular heritage thematic, is the final objective. A methodology which established a bridge between history, urbanism and earth architecture was attempt.
