A mineração romana no complexo de Tresmina e Jales (Trás-os-Montes, Portugal)

Abstract

No Capítulo I, intentou-se ilustrar o que foi a mineração desde a Pré-história à Época Romana. Procurou-se apurar o que as fontes clássicas e a epigrafia nos transmitiram sobre o assunto. Estudaram-se as características geológicas e mineralógicas de Tresminas e Jales. A concluir, referem-se os estudos científicos que foram realizados até à data. O Capítulo II versa sobre a tecnologia e logística romana utilizadas na exploração do local, dando-se especial destaque ao moinho de pilões, pela sua singularidade e por representar “tecnologia de ponta” nas explorações mineiras de Época Romana. O Capítulo III versa sobre a cultura material, que nos fornece, através da sua evolução, cronologias para as diversas etapas da exploração. No último capítulo procura-se enquadrar a exploração mineira de Tresminas e Jales no contexto sócioeconómico e político da conquista da Península Ibérica, explanando o papel das legiões na manutenção e vigilância das explorações mineiras; Abstrat: In Chapter I, he tried to illustrate what was mining from Prehistory to the Roman period. He tried to find out what the classical sources and epigraphy have given us on the subject. We studied the geological and mineralogical characteristics of Tresminas and Jales. The conclusion, refers to scientific studies that have been conducted until now-a-days. Chapter II deals with the Roman technology and logistics operated on the site, with particular emphasis on pylons mill, for its uniqueness and also his representation of the "the latest technology" in the mines of the Roman Period. Chapter III deals with the material culture, which provides us, through its evolution, timelines for the various stages of exploration. In the last chapter he try to seeks the frames for the mining in Tresminas and Jales, the economic and political context of the conquest of the Iberian Peninsula, and explaining the role of the legions in the maintenance and monitoring of mining operations.
