Based on a Raspberry Pi - In view of the rapid technological expansion experienced in the present century, there is a continuous demand for developing new tools in order to optimize the performance of manufacturing processes, through the reduction of production times, associated costs, risks for workers, etc. As a response to the traditional transport mechanisms, which currently still dominate this sector, a technology with growing trends is presented, providing the necessary flexibility and the required rigor, through processes independent of human actions. This product is the Automated Guided Vehicle, commonly referred as AGV. According to this motivation, this project aims to demonstrate the development of an AGV a original construction based on a Raspberry Pi 4B, according to a POC model (Proof of Concept ), with the aim to follow a system of guides, which makes up an operational route. This system is an unidirectional system, with junctions, intersections and changes of direction, which will be carried out in an automated way by reading the signs, integrated into the floor, interpreted by artificial vision. The navigation method of the AGV is based on a closed system, since there is a fixed layout on the floor. In terms of orientation, the AGV features a differential displacement system and integrates a digital camera in its structure, which allows for image acquisition, being the only method of acquiring the environment around it. All the information obtained is processed by a dedicated system, which, through OpenCV (Open Source Computer Vision Library ) and a computational algorithm developed in Python, performs the processing of the images and makes the necessary decisions for a satisfactory navigation. The guide selection process is automated by the AGV, but the User pre-defines the routes it will follow, so that after a number of programmed routes, the AGV repeats the planned routes again. The portability of the AGV is ensured by a battery, which is managed by a BMS (Battery Management System), coupled to a physical structure modeled and built using an additive manufacturing technology process – fused deposition modeling (FDM), in order to achieve an economical, unique and compact design.por
