Traduzir, recriando - Fotobiografia de Vergílio Ferreira

Abstract

Neste projeto de Mestrado intitulado Traduzir, recriando – Fotobiografia de Vergílio Ferreira, propomos a tradução da obra Fotobiografia de Vergílio Ferreira (1993), organizada por Hélder Godinho e Serafim Ferreira. Nesta obra estão incluídos 132 excertos de 25 obras de Vergílio Ferreira. A leitura em tradução adquire importância na investigação documental e na compreensão que precede o ato de traduzir assim como em etapas posteriores, da reescrita à verificação. O processo de tradução é sustentado pelas leituras que visam compreender e reconstruir essa compreensão. No seguimento da experiência de tradução da obra, analisámos a prática tradutológica. A análise inclui um estudo preliminar da vida e obra de Vergílio Ferreira, a tradução da sua obra em França, a leitura na ótica da tradução, o desafio da tradução e as dificuldades encontradas. Apresentam-se ainda as opções tomadas durante o processo de tradução; ABSTRACT: This Project Work is centred on the translation of one hundred and thirty two excerpts of twenty five of Vergílio Ferreira’s literary works included in Vergilio Ferreira’s Photobiography, a work organised by Hélder Godinho and Serafim Ferreira (1993). Reading skills are a key factor not only in documentary research, but also in the interpretation process that underlies several stages of the act of translating. Indeed, underpinning the relationship between the translator and the source text, reading skills allow both the construction and the reconstruction of meaning to be rendered in the target text. The translation hereby presented is framed by a reference to Virgílio Ferreira’s life and work and to the translation of his work in France. Focusing on some of the challenges and difficulties met in the course of this activity, some examples of decision-making are provided.
