Castelo novo de Évora: análise e interpretação arquitetónica

Abstract

O Castelo Novo de Évora surge implantado a SE da cerca nova de Évora numa pequena elevação topográfica que marca o perfil da cidade, chamado de Outeiro da Vila Nova. Construído no século XVI a mando de D. Manuel I, sob traça arquitetónica do mestre das obras do Alentejo, Diogo de Arruda, foi alvo de grande transformação no século XVIII comandada pelo Engenheiro Miguel Luís Jacob adquirindo então a traça que conhecemos nos dias de hoje. Pretende-se com a investigação desenvolvida compreender a evolução morfológica e o caracter sui generis do Castelo novo de Évora; ABSTRACT: The Castelo Novo of Évora is implanted in the SE of the new Wall of Évora in a small topographic elevation that marks the profile of the city, called Outeiro da Vila Nova. Built in the 16th century by command of D. Manuel I, under the architectonic traces of the master of the Alentejo's works, Diogo de Arruda, was a major transformation in the eighteenth century led by the Engineer Miguel Luís Jacob, acquiring the form that we know these days. It is intended with the research developed to understand the morphological evolution and the sui generis character of Castelo Novo of Évora
