O associativismo e a valorização do património cultural em meio urbano. O caso da 'Oficinas do Convento' em Montemor-o-Novo

Abstract

Esta dissertação pretende refletir sobre as ações em defesa do património cultural em contexto associativo como fatores que potenciam e diversificam a participação cívica. Para tal, foi desenvolvida uma investigação assente em metodologia mista. Pesquisa documental em bibliotecas e arquivos, análise e interpretação da mesma; recolha de informações através de entrevistas e questionários, tratadas do ponto de vista qualitativo, mas também mediante alguma quantificação. A reflexão desenvolvida apresenta, portanto, numa parte de contextualização que se orienta, em seguida, para um estudo de caso: a associação Oficinas do Convento (OC), em Montemor-O-Novo. Com a missão de preservar e promover a cultura portuguesa, a OC oferece aos seus associados, e à comunidade montemorense, experiências variadas através da dinamização e participação em atividades culturais, cujo tema principal é o património cultural associado ao território. A OC promove uma relação com o património que extravasa a dimensão imaterial e material, e influencia o a participação das pessoas e sua relação com o território, moldando, assim, a forma, a frequência e a diversidade da participação cultural. Neste sentido, a OC, como uma associação cuja missão também é a defesa do património, tem um papel importante nas novas dinâmicas de relação comunidade-património, no desenvolvimento local e na rutura dos obstáculos e hierarquias culturais. Atendendo ao mencionado, considera-se que o estudo da OC permite apreender e analisar as relações entre os conceitos de preservação e de valorização do património cultural e, por essa via, evidenciar as adaptações necessárias a nível de políticas públicas do país para apoiar essas ações; Associations and the enhancement of cultural heritage in the urban environment The case of ‘Oficinas do Convento’ in Montemor-O-Novo Abstract: This dissertation intends to reflect on actions in defense of cultural heritage in associative context as factors that enhance and diversify civic participation. For this, an investigation was developed based on mixed methodology. Documentary research in libraries and archives, analysis, and interpretation thereof; collection of information through interviews and questionnaires, treated from a qualitative point of view, but also by some quantification. The developed reflection presents, therefore, a contextualization part that is oriented, then, to a case study: the association Oficinas do Convento (OC), in Montemor-O-Novo. With the mission of preserving and promoting Portuguese culture, OC offers its members, and the Montemorense community, varied experiences through the dynamization and participation in cultural activities, whose main theme is the cultural heritage associated with the territory. The OC promotes a relationship with heritage that goes beyond the immaterial and material dimension, and influences people’s participation and their relationship with the territory, thus shaping the form, frequency, and diversity of cultural participation. In this sense, the OC, as an association whose mission is also the defense of heritage, has an important role in the new dynamics of community-heritage relationship, in local development and in the rupture of cultural obstacles and hierarchies. In view of this, it is considered that the study of the association allows to apprehend and analyze the relationships between the concepts of preservation and enhancement of cultural heritage and, the necessary adaptations at the level of public policies in the country to support these actions.
