Augusto de Santa-Rita : criação literária e vanguarda no século XX

Abstract

Augusto de Santa-Rita, nascido no final do século XIX, terá tido uma educação tradicional, própria do seu tempo e da sua condição social. Cresceu com uma geração de artistas contra uma época caracterizada pelo academismo literário e pelo naturalismo artístico, num país conturbado, e em que, por parte de determinados núcleos da burguesia, havia resistência à mudança. Tendo sofrido as influências próprias de quem, na época, se via envolto pelas interferências familiares e confrontado com a tradição, por um lado, e com a modernidade, por outro, a sua obra será disso mesmo um reflexo, sendo possível encontrar características do Romantismo, do Simbolismo, do Saudosismo, ou de novas tendências, sem que, contudo, haja uma ruptura com a cultura ou com a estética dominantes. Escritor, poeta e dramaturgo, a sua obra é vasta e diversificada, sendo considerado o criador do Teatro do Mestre Gil. __ ABSTRACT: Augusto de Santa-Rita, born in the end of the twentieth century, may have had the traditional education of his own time and of his social condition. He grew with a generation of artists from an era marked by literary scholars and art naturalism, in a turbulent country where, by some nucleus of the bourgeoisie, there was a resistance to change. Having suffered the influences as a man who, at the time, saw himself surrounded by family interferences and confronted with the tradition, on the one hand, and with modernity, on the other, his literary work reflects that same, being possible to find characteristics of Romanticism, Symbolism and Saudosism, or of new trends, without, however, causing a rupture with the culture or the dominant aesthetics. Writer, poet and playwright, his literary work is vast and diverse and is considered the creator of the Theatre of Master Gil.
