Urgências mais comuns num Hospital Veterinário, no Litoral Alentejano

Abstract

O presente trabalho foi realizado no âmbito da disciplina estágio curricular e encontra-se dividido em duas partes. Uma primeira composta pela descrição da casuística observada durante o estágio desenvolvido no Hospital Veterinário do Litoral Alentejano e uma segunda parte composta pela revisão bibliográfica da abordagem a realizar a um animal em situação urgente, com a descrição e discussão de três casos clínicos observados no decorrer do estágio. A abordagem realizada a um paciente urgente inicia-se com a triagem do animal e através de vários procedimentos pretende-se a estabilização do animal enquanto se tenta perceber qual a razão para necessidade de atendimento no centro de atendimento médico veterinário. Existe uma variedade de afeções que podem levar um animal ter de ser assistido em urgência. Durante o estágio as urgências mais encontradas resultaram de doença obstrutiva do trato urinário inferior felino, hemoabdómen por rutura de neoplasia esplénica e piómetra fechada em cadelas; ABSTRACT: Common emergencies in the daily routine of a Veterinary Hospital This work was carried out within the scope of the curricular internship subject and is divided into two parts. The first part consists in the description of the cases observed during the internship carried out at the Veterinary Hospital in Litoral Alentejano, and the second part consists of a bibliographical review on the medical approach to patients admitted in an emergency context, with the description and discussion of three clinical cases. The medical approach to patients admitted in an emergency context begins with the triage. Throughout the use of several procedures, the objective is to stabilize the patient while evaluating the primary cause that led the animal to the veterinary center. There is a variety of disorders that require urgent medical care. During the internship the most common emergencies resulted from obstructive feline lower urinary tract disease, hemoabdomen secondary to rupture of a splenic neoplasm, and closed pyometra in bitches.
