O heroísmo na Eneida de Virgílio: alguns aspectos da formação e evolução de Eneias

Abstract

A definição do estatuto heróico de Eneias constitui um dos problemas ainda em debate, no quadro da Eneida de Virgílio. Este artigo explora alguns episódios da Eneida, visando demonstrar que, já nos livros de inspiração odisseica, Eneias revela características heróicas, nomeadamente de teor social e político, ao passo que, no tocante a outros elementos, relativos ao plano da relação da sua individualidade com missão, apresenta fracturas estruturantes, que se mantém até ao final da narrativa. The definition of the heroic statute of Aeneas constitutes one of the problems still in debate. This paper explores some episodes of the Aeneid, seeking to demonstrate that, already in the first books, Aeneas reveals heroic characteristics, namely of social and political tenor, while, concerning other elements, relative to the plan of the relationship of his individuality with mission, it presents ruptures, that stays to the end of the narrative.
