Bullying homofóbico no ensino superior: vivências da Comunidade LGB

Abstract

Este estudo tem como principais objetivos compreender as vivências de bullying homofóbico dos/as estudantes LGB da Universidade de Évora e identificar e analisar o impacto das vivências a nível pessoal, social e académico dos/as estudantes, assim como as diferentes estratégias utilizadas para lidar com estas situações. Para a realização do estudo foram utilizados diversos instrumentos recorrendo-se à construção de duas escalas: Escala de Situações e Vivências de Bullying na Universidade e Escala de Impactos e Estratégias face a Situações de Bullying na Universidade. O estudo contou com uma amostra de 101 estudantes LGB da Universidade de Évora de diferentes áreas de estudo. Os principais resultados da investigação indicam que ser vítima de bullying homofóbico possui diversas consequências, nomeadamente na perceção que se tem acerca da segurança na instituição de ensino, na exposição da orientação sexual, no impacto e, também, nas estratégias utilizadas para lidar com os episódios de vitimização; Homophobic Bullying in Higher Education: Experiences of the LGB Community Abstract: This study has as main objectives to understand the experiences of homophobic bullying of LGB students at the University of Évora and to identify and analyze the impact of the experiences at the personal, social and academic level of students, as well as the different strategies used to deal with these situations. To carry out the study, several instruments were used, using the construction of two scales: Scale of Situations and Bullying Experiences at the University and Scale of Impacts and Strategies in the face of Situations of Bullying at the University. The study included a sample of 101 LGB students from the University of Évora from different study areas. The main results of the investigation indicate that being a victim of homophobic bullying has several consequences, namely in the perception of safety in the educational institution, in the exposure of sexual orientation, in the impact and also in the strategies used to deal with the episodes victimization.
