’Contra danças não há argumentos’: A dança entre património e moral no âmbito de uma associação cultural portuguesa

Abstract

This paper presents the heritage practices of a cultural association dedicated to popular music and dance in the South of Portugal. After a review of the recent literature showing the moral dimension of non professional heritagisation, the text describes the very practices of the association, such as fieldwork, inventory and transmission. This local system of heritage making is contextualised in the Portuguese history of uses of popular culture and enlighten by the contemporary and worldwide moral turn of folk heritage-making.
