The Macdonald warehouse, Paris 19th arrondissement, 1966-2002 - ABSTRACT: The term « megastructure » was first theorised by architectural historian Reyner Banham in 1976. In his book Megastructures: Urban Futures of the Recent Past, he defined the megastructure as a large-scale construction made up of modular units, capable of unlimited extensions and designed to organise buildings in relation to each other. This dissertation explores the evolution of this architectural concept in the 1960s, using the Macdonald warehouse in Paris as a case study. It contextualises the definition and reception of megastructures, examining their relationship with the environment until their rediscovery in the 2000s, in particular in 2002, when the warehouse was converted.por
