Abstract

Discs harrows are the most commonly used tillage implements in Portugal. The review of the available information discloses that the forward speed effect in draught requirements of trailed disc harrows is not perfectly clarified. This paper presents the results of a set of field trials with trailed disc harrows, performed under real conditions in different soil types. The results show that draft force tends to increase with the forward speed and demonstrate that this relation is almost linear, between 3 and 9 km h-1.
