"Inventar o Mundo": Os painéis de 'chinoiserie' da Universidade de Évora e a cultura decorativa Ca. 1750

Abstract

The Colégio do Espírito Santo, where the University of Évora was founded in 1559, has known an increasing attention regarding architectural and decorative critique and especially the 18th Century tiles. It is intended to highlight one of its themes: the views of China or chinoiserie, a trend and original recreation circa 1750, resulting from the visual culture of the time by composing itself on models that arrived in Portugal in famous albums of engravings, in circumstances presented below.
