Catalysis plays a pivotal role in contemporary organic and organometallic synthesis and catalysis, which are of relevance to both academic and industrial chemists alike. In September 2017, the second edition of the International Symposium on Synthesis and Catalysis (ISySyCat2017) was held in Evora, Portugal. The global nature of this conference was reflected in the list of speakers hailing from a range of catalysis disciplines from all over the world. To celebrate the scope and depth of Portuguese catalysis we are publishing this Virtual Issue in collaboration with our Guest Editors, Armando Pombeiro and Anthony Burke. Contributions include homogeneous, heterogeneous and bio‐catalysis, from upstream research on understanding catalyst mechanisms to catalytic process design. The 3rd edition of this conference (ISySyCat2019) will take place in Evora, from 3‐6 September 2019.por
