Manuel Ferreira Cardoso (1851-1923): a vida musical em Lisboa no final do século XIX e início do XX

Abstract

Manuel Ferreira Cardoso (1851-1923), médico de profissão e flautista amador, viveu em Lisboa no final do século XIX e início do XX. Foi dedicatário de um concerto para flauta e piano que Ernesto Vieira escreveu, quando concorreu ao lugar de professor de flauta no Conservatório, em 1892. Ainda neste concurso para professor de flauta do Conservatório, Ernesto Vieira fez uma exposição oral sobre a teoria do ensino. Tanto no concerto como na parte teórica o nome de Ferreira Cardoso é mencionado. Outro compositor que dedicou obras a Ferreira Cardoso foi Viana da Mota. O principal local onde estes vultos confraternizaram foi a Real Academia de Amadores de Música.Este trabalho procura mostrar um pouco da vida musical em Lisboa, no final do século XIX e início do XX, tendo como elemento de ligação Manuel Ferreira Cardoso; ABSTRACT: Manuel Ferreira Cardoso (1851-1923), doctor and flutist, lived in Lisbon at the end of the XIX and beginning of the XX century. The flute and piano concerto composed by Ernesto Vieira (when he applied for a place of flute teacher at the Conservatory, in 1892) was dedicated to him. In this contest for the position of flute teacher, Ernesto Vieira did an oral presentation about the theory of learning. Both in the concert as in the theory, the name of Ferreira Cardoso is mentioned. Another composer that dedicated works to Ferreira Cardoso, was Viana da Mota. The main place where these artists gathered, was the Real Academia de Amadores de Música. The aim of this work is to show a part of the musical life in Lisbon at the end of the XIX and beginning of the XX century, having Manuel Ferreira Cardoso as an element of connection.
