União de Freguesias de São Gregório e Santa Justa. Quem é esta gente? - Uma abordagem sociológica

Abstract

O presente trabalho de dissertação, teve a sua génese na análise dos resultados (preliminares) dos Censos 2021. A possibilidade de obter dados estatísticos, em vários domínios, ao nível local, foi o mote para querer conhecer as gentes desta terra. A variação negativa (mais de 20%) da população na UF, faz antever um processo de diminuição da população até ao despovoamento total. Baseámos a nossa investigação em alguns dos indicadores mais relevantes nesta matéria, a análise das condições de vida, as dinâmicas demográficas (a distribuição da população por sexo, idade e local de residência e trabalho, número de filhos e constituição das famílias). Analisamos população, famílias, instituições e empresas e o modo como se relacionam com o espaço social envolvente. Recolhemos informação por via de inquérito, entrevista, conversa informal, estivemos no terreno enquanto participantes. Se os mais velhos têm partido para outros lugares, os mais novos, munidos de diferentes formas de vida e de saberes vão chegando e deixando as suas marcas. A população é certamente diferente, vai-se renovando. Mesmo que os números não consigam acompanhar esta evolução ela está a ocorrer e não parece ter fim à vista; - Union of Civil Parishes of São Gregório and Santa Justa. Who are these people? - A sociological approach - Abstract: The present dissertation originated in the analysis of the (preliminary) results of the 2021 Census. The possibility of obtaining statistical data in various domains at the local level was the driving force behind wanting to get to know the people of this land. The negative variation (over 20%) in the population of the Union of Civil Parishes suggests a process of population decline leading to total depopulation. We based our research on some of the most relevant indicators in this matter, such as the analysis of living conditions, demographic dynamics (population distribution by sex, age, place of residence and work, number of children, and family composition). We analyzed the population, families, institutions, and businesses and how they relate to the surrounding social space. We collected information through surveys, interviews, informal conversations, and were on the ground as participants. If the older generations have moved to other places, the younger ones, armed with different ways of life and knowledge, are arriving, and leaving their marks. The population is certainly different, it is renewing itself. Even if the numbers cannot keep up with this evolution, it is happening and doesn't seem to have an end in sight.
