Abstract
Soil pollution with organic xenobiotics is one of the emerging environmental global issues in the current industrialized world. This chapter reviews and investigate the critical impacts resulting from the presence of petroleum hydrocarbons in soils and its relationship with their physicochemical characteristics, describing the different and more suitable ecologically correct remediation processes and exploring the synergies present in plant-microbe integrated approaches.
