Arquitetura industrial no Alto Alentejo: casos de estudo

Abstract

A imagem do Alentejo consiste numa construção centrada em torno da terra, marcada pelo tradicionalismo e pelo artesanato. A indústria moderna surge como uma atividade residual e atípica. Dando-nos uma imagem de uma região com níveis de desenvolvimento reduzidos e exclusivamente agrícola. Porém, esta imagem era contrariada excecionalmente em alguns casos sendo exemplo disso o Alto Alentejo. A presente dissertação encontra-se fundamentada na área de estudo do Património Industrial Fabril, com um enfoque particular no Distrito de Portalegre, pretendendo-se compreender quais as principais indústrias desta região, inventariar a sua tipologia, perceber a sua evolução morfológica, classificar o seu estado atual de preservação e qual a sua função atual. Este trabalho pretende ainda, contribuir e facilitar o estudo do Património Industrial na região; Abstract: Industrial Architecture in Alto Alentejo: Study Cases Alentejo’s image follows rural type construction, marked by traditionalism and crafts. The Modern Industry emerges as a residual activity and atypical, giving us an image of slou and exclusively agricultural region, in other words, an industrial desert. The present dissertation’s focus is the study of the industrial heritage architecture, particularly centred at Portalegre district. The main goal is the understanding of which are the main industries of this region, the inventory of their typology, to understand their morphological evolution and classify their current preservation state and use. This study aims to contribute and facilitate the study of industrial heritage in the region.
