Envolvimento na escola, vitimação e bem-estar psicológico: um estudo com alunos/alunas do 3º ciclo

Abstract

Suportada pelo modelo do Envolvimento do/a Estudante na Escola de Lam e Jimerson (2008), esta investigação pretende compreender as relações existentes entre as dimensões do Envolvimento do/a Estudante na Escola, a Vitimação por parte dos pares e o Bem-Estar. Pretende também verificar a existência de eventuais diferenças relativas ao sexo, ao ano de escolaridade e à idade. Aplicámos três escalas de autorrelato – a Escala de Envolvimento do/a Estudante na Escola, a Escala de Vitimação do Questionário de Violência Escolar e Isolamento Social e a Escala de Bem-Estar Psicológico para Adolescentes – a uma amostra de 379 estudantes (n=379). Os principais resultados encontrados sugerem que as raparigas e os/as alunos/as do 7.º ano de escolaridade são mais empenhadas/os no processo de aprendizagem; que o Envolvimento na Escola tende a diminuir ao longo da idade; e que existe relação entre os fatores Afetivo e Comportamental do Envolvimento, a Vitimação e o Bem-Estar; School Engagement, Victimization and Psychological Well- Being: A study with students of 3rd cycle Abstract: Supported by the model of Students Engagement with School of Lam & Jimerson (2008), this research aims to understand the relationships among dimensions of Student Engagement with School, Peer Victimization and Well-Being. It also aims to analyze differences in the participant’s average scores on gender, school year and age. We applied three self-report scales – Students Engagement School Scale, Victimization Scale of School Violence and Social Isolation Questionnaire, and Psychological Well-Being Scale for Adolescents - to a sample of 379 students (n=379). The main findings suggest that girls and students of the 7th grade are more engaged in the learning process; School Engagement tends to decrease along age; and there is relationship among affective and behavioral Engagement’s factors, the Victimization and Well-Being.
