Criação da Biblioteca Digital do Fundo de Periódicos do ICBAS: estudo de caso

Abstract

O trabalho que se apresenta tem como tema principal a criação da biblioteca digital do fundo de periódicos existentes na Biblioteca Dr. Alberto Saavedra do Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar da Universidade do Porto. Para fundamentar este trabalho, fez-se, primeiramente, um estudo dos diferentes termos usados na caracterização da biblioteca tradicional e da biblioteca digital; seguidamente, uma exposição sobre o Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar e a sua atividade e, finalmente, uma referência às bibliotecas da Universidade do Porto, no que concerne ao sistema de gestão integrado. Procedeu-se a uma análise dos softwares livres usados na criação da biblioteca digital, bem como das dificuldades dos utilizadores nas suas pesquisas e, por fim, descreveu-se o Dspace, a plataforma escolhida para a criação da biblioteca digital do ICBAS. A avaliação deste estudo teve por base uma entrevista ao professor Eduardo Rocha e um inquérito aos utilizadores da biblioteca do ICBAS. ABSTRACT: The project/work presented has as topic/theme the creating of a digital library existing magazines existent in the library Dr. Alberto Saavedra, in the institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar at the Oporto University. To substantiate this project, firstly, different surveys, of the various terms used in the characterization of the traditional library as opposed to the digital library were done. Following this an exhibition on the Institute and its activity, and finally, a reference to the libraries of the University of Oporto, in that which concerns a system of integrated/joint management. An analysis of the free software used in the creation of digital library, as well as the difficulties encountered by the user doing surveys, and lastly, the d-space, the platform used/selected, for creating the digital Library of ICBAS. The qualitative assessment of this study had as a basis, an interview to Professor Eduardo Rocha and a survey to all users of the ICBAS.
