Relação entre o maneio reprodutivo na cadela e as datas de beneficiação e de parto

Abstract

Este trabalho aborda a identificação do período fértil de cadelas através do doseamento sérico de progesterona e de citologias vaginais, para determinar o melhor momento para beneficiar. Neste tema incluiu-se um estudo realizado em 11 cadelas, em que, com base nos resultados citológicos e endócrinos, se determinou o período fértil das cadelas para maximizar a fertilidade da beneficiação. Destas, nove cadelas ficaram gestantes. Avaliou-se ainda a relação entre a duração da gestação e do tipo de beneficiação sobre o tamanho da ninhada. Não foi possível estabelecer uma correlação significativa entre a duração da gestação e o tamanho da ninhada nem entre o tipo de beneficiação e o tamanho da ninhada na amostra em estudo (p= 0,345). A determinação do período fértil é uma ferramenta útil para aumentar a eficácia na obtenção de uma gestação; - Abstract: The relationship between reproductive management in bitches and the dates of whelping and parturition This work addresses the identification of the fertile period of bitches through serum progesterone measurement and vaginal cytology, to determine the best time to breed. This topic included a fertility study conducted on 11 female dogs, using both cytological and endocrine analysis to identify their optimal breeding periods. The study resulted in successful pregnancies in nine of the animals. The relationship between the duration of gestation and the type of breeding on the size of the litter was also evaluated. It was not possible to establish a significant correlation between the duration of gestation and litter size nor between the type of breeding and litter size in the sample under study (p= 0.345). Determining the fertile period is a useful tool to increase the effectiveness of obtaining a pregnancy.
