Reutilização dos contentores marítimos na arquitetura

Abstract

A elaboração desta dissertação tem como objetivo o estudo da reutilização dos contentores marítimos na arquitetura. Tendo como ponto de partida a reutilização do contentor marítimo, enquanto núcleo estrutural num projeto de arquitetura sustentável, uma vez que, mesmo em fim de vida, tem uma estrutura em aço extremamente forte, resistente o que permite encarar a sua reutilização para diversas finalidades edificatórias, e, precisamente por se preconizar a reutilização de um objeto que, para as finalidades com que foi construído, estaria destinado ao abandono ou à reciclagem (com custos elevadíssimos). No atual contexto social e cultural do designado mundo ocidental, o conceito de núcleo familiar tem vindo a sofrer significativas mudanças. Contudo, também a arquitetura deve procurar dar respostas rápidas, não se eximindo, porém, a que essas respostas mantenham a qualidade dos espaços que o ser humano necessita para que se mantenham os padrões de conforto a que a sociedade já chegou e que continua a exigir; ABSTRACT: Reusable shipping containers in architecture. The aim of this dissertation is mainly to carry out study on the use of reusable shipping containers in architecture. Considering the benefits of reused shipping containers, viewed as structural core in the context of sustainable architecture – since their extremely strong and resistant steel structure allows them, even if at the end of their shelf life, to be reused and refurbished for numerous building purposes - we have every reason to look at this process as a sustainable one, even more so as it means reusing an object that would otherwise be fated to abandonment or recycling (at a high cost). In the current social and cultural context of the so-called western world, the conventional concept of family has undergone a number of significant changes. However, architecture cannot be oblivious to that. It must therefore be able to provide quick answers that ensure the quality of the spaces people need to keep the comfort standards society has grown used to and keeps on demanding.
