Artists living at Porta Nova of Évora in the 16th century

Abstract

In this text we walk through the Largo da Porta Nova (currently Largo de Luís de Camões) in Évora, a place where several artists lived and worked. It examines the historical soundscape surrounding a singer, a painter, and a stone mason that lived and worked there in the last decades of the sixteenth century.
